Hermit Crab Flash Fiction Workshop
Sunday, March 15, 2020

UPDATE: This class is now filled. Email me at to be added to the list for the next class, to be held in May.

Many have heard of the hermit crab essay, but hermit crab flash fiction is an emerging form as well, and fantastic examples abound. In this workshop, we’ll first explore the form’s wondrous varieties by looking at several recently published works before moving on to write our own.

This will be a highly generative writing workshop. Think of this as a four-hour imagination vacation. The environment will be playful, experimental, encouraging, and most of all, productive. We will borrow from five different forms and everyone will receive feedback on their work—from each other and from me. You’re free to do fewer than five if you run out of time.

For those who sign up, I’ll send along several examples to read before the workshop. If you don’t have time, that’s fine; I’ll have them posted on the site. I’ll also invite you to the workshop site with instructions on how to participate.

Email me at to secure your place ($50 via PayPal at or if you have any questions. There is a limit of 12 participants for the course, just to keep the group intimate.

I’m so excited to work with you!
